“Curiosity killed the cat BUT knowledge brought it back”
I am a curious person. I like to research and learn about everything. Therefore, it is normal that I found myself applying in 2009 for the ‘Investigacio i Tecniques de Mercat” (Investigation and Market Tecniques) Honours Degree course.
This degree provided me with a deep understanding of Market Research techniques including Focus Group, Surveys, Interviews, Online Research… and the analysis of the data collected using various software including Excel and SPSS.
My knowledge brought me to set up and coordinate Market Research projects for companies such as Sony, Hyundai, Teagasc and DPD.
In 2013, with the ‘BIG data boom’ I felt the need to refresh my knowledge and I ‘research’ my possibilities. Finally in September 2014, I applied for the Higher Diploma in Science – Data Science and Analytic in CIT.
This high diploma is one year long course focus on Big data analysis and data modelling using tools/languages such as Qlickview, R, Python and Rapidminer. It has a strong focus on data analysis (maths and statistics), data mining techniques and programming skills.
Currently I am working as part time Research Assistant in University College of Cork (UCC): S-HELP project : “The central aim of S-HELP “Securing Health.Emergency.Learning.Planning – Development of Decision Support Tools for Improving Preparedness and Response of Health Services Involved in Emergency Situations” project is to develop and deliver a holistic framed approach to healthcare preparedness, response and recovery. S-HELP is a people, process and technological solution to emergency situations.”
